My Approach

While I believe in providing evidence-based treatment for various mental health concerns, I also see each person as a unique individual with varying experiences, cultures, and personalities.  Because of this view, I believe that therapy is a collaborative approach in which the therapist and client work together towards an ultimate goal.  My views of therapy could be described as an eclectic approach, influenced by humanistic psychology, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Should I consider starting therapy?

Therapy can be beneficial for a number of different reasons.  Research has shown that therapy can help alleviate symptoms related to a number of disorders as classified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).  A number of people come to therapy to help in the treatment of various disorders such as: depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc.  In addition to the treatment of various disorders, therapy can also be beneficial as a way to promote personal growth, overcome challenges related to life experiences or hardships, or work on relationships in couples or family therapy.
